Unsealed 4x4, the off-roaders magazine at the cutting edge of digital media, penned a review of the OPATII during a 15,000km trip. Keen tourer Tim Stanners writes:

“I’ve run the A/TII’s right around the Apple Isle at Christmas time, across the Simpson Desert and up and down the Blue Mountains and across all sorts of terrain – with and without camper trailers – and to date, I must admit, they have performed admirably.

“Mud and sand driving and in particular stone retention (or lack thereof) and self-cleaning ability have been excellent. Directional stability and vehicle handling were also noticeably good.

“A thumbs up for producing a good looking A/T tyre which performs well on-road, is very capable off-road and if their claim to longevity is anything to go by you should be seeing these tyres in Unsealed 4x4 for a while yet.”

For the discerning tyre purchaser, Wheels magazine’s tyre test is de rigueur when it comes to rubber selection.

The 2015 test saw the team running tyres through eight separate metrics, with Wheels journalists combining science with slalom and skidpan to give readers the information they need to make a better tyre choice.

A control size 205/55R16 placed Proxes T1 Sport in evaluation against eight other tyres, and it put on a great performance during the test day.

It took first place in the dry slalom and second in the skid circuit with a 10/10 and 9.98/10 awarded by the judges, following field-topping performances. The T1 Sport did not dip below a 9.22/10 in any of the performance tests.

The first place rank in dry slalom demonstrates the Proxes T1 Sport’s safety and reliability in high pressure situations. The test subjects tyres to the swerve and recover punishment experienced on the road when an absent-minded pedestrian or another vehicle strays into a drivers path.

The skid circuit demonstrates the tyre’s grip, showcasing the Proxes T1 Sports’ lauded lateral hold under load. Throughout testing the tyre earned the praise of race driver and engineer Renato Loberto, noting that the Proxes T1 Sport ‘bolted out of the gate’ and made special mention of the tyre’s turn in feel and outright grip.
