Four Wheel Drive Queensland partners with Toyo Tires Australia

Toyo Tyres Australia (“Toyo”) has partnered Four Wheel Drive Queensland (“4WD QLD”), aligning with the association to become their Official Tyre and work together to further both brands’ commitment to safe and sustainable four-wheel driving.

“Interest in domestic tourism is at an all-time high, and we’re seeing Australians prioritise exploring their own backyard,” begins Toyo’s, Jose Angeles.

“The SUV and 4x4 vehicle categories continue to grow, and the feedback from the aftermarket is that there’s never been more interest in camping and caravanning.”

“We’re confident that driver training and safe driving messages are very well catered for when it comes to day-to-day commuting, but with many Australians interested in venturing off-road for the first time we wanted to support an organisation that provides off-road Driver Training, that also aligns with our goals of wanting Australian enthusiasts to be able to explore everything that Australia has to offer, safely and sustainably,” continues Jose.

Established in 1976, 4WD QLD is the peak body representing over 50 clubs and their members in Queensland. As well as extensive Driver Training programs for new and veteran off-roaders, the Association is also involved in lobbying government on behalf of the community, organising social activities to strengthen the bonds between clubs and generating extensive literature and Best Practice Guides, including the establishment of an Off-Road Driving Code of Conduct for Club Members and Queensland four-wheel drivers.

Toyo’s Technical Manager Steve Burke celebrates the 4WD QLD partnership as one that will allow the brand to connect more personally with members of affiliated clubs through a series of information and training seminars.

“We spend plenty of time on education and training for our dealers, like Tyrepower and other retailers, but to be able to connect directly with clubs and elevate their technical knowledge, answer their questions and even provide personalised advice on things like correct tyre pressures for their specific vehicles not only turns them in to great ambassadors for the Toyo brand, but will help them get the most out of their tyres and their time off-road,” he explains.

While the partnership will allow 4WD QLD members to access a range of retail benefits on Toyo’s popular range of Open Country SUV tyres, Jose Angeles is quick to point out that the partnership is much more than a sales pitch.

“Regardless of the tyre brand or pattern a member has, we believe Steve Burke’s 30-plus years of technical experience has something to offer them. Something they learn in our free training sessions could be the very thing that gets them home safely on their next trip,” Jose elaborates.

“We always seek to partner with companies whose values align with that of the Association’s,” begins 4WD QLD President, Shane Rose.

“Toyo’s support allows us to run events like the Fraser Island Clean Up, as well as continue our work with Driver Training and education.”

“We’re a Registered Training Organisation and can provide members with Nationally accredited training from beginners, all the way to more advanced techniques. We endeavor to educate members how to use their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, and much like our Fraser Island Clean Up event, our Driver Training is a keyway that we envisage making four-wheel driving in Queensland more sustainable,” adds Shane.

As well as product training and technical seminars, Toyo Tyre Australia will actively be involved in 4WD QLD’s marquee events including the Fraser Island Clean Up and the 4WD QLD Corroboree.
