Toyo Tires goes all in with Mr 4x4

Australia’s favourite 4WD guru Pat Callinan will drive exclusively on Toyo Tires’ Open Country range in 2017

Australia’s favourite 4WD guru Pat Callinan will drive exclusively on Toyo Tires’ Open Country range in 2017 as he sets out to conquer the outback for his much-loved television and magazine series.

Pat is no stranger to the Toyo Tires Open Country range. Sister magazine Unsealed 4x4 has been testing and reviewing the tyres for two years, with Pat heeding the recommendations of his colleagues as he heads into the 2017 Pat Callinan 4x4 Adventures season.

“I’ve been hearing good things about Toyo Tires for years… This season, I’ve opted to fit my V6 Amarok with a set of Toyo Open Country Muddies,” said Pat.

Known to fans as ‘Mr 4x4’, 2017 will see the off-road action stepped up as the crew attack the dirt and take the road less travelled. Audiences will be taken via Pat’s Toyo Open Country M/T shod V6 Amarok to the farthest flung, hardest to reach destinations in Australia.

Proven by the Unsealed team across beaches, deserts and on the harsh Madigan Line, Toyo Tires Open Country A/TII and Open Country M/T will give Pat and his crew performance, toughness and durability off-road plus grip, quiet and comfort for the long stretches of tarmac in between.

Pat and his team of journalists and film crew are testing the Open Country range right now through the rugged Victorian high country.

Following that trip they will head north to one of the roughest tracks and most difficult river crossings in Australia, the Carson River track in the Kimberley. The team will then tackle both east and west Arnhem Land, before heading up the May Town and Old Telegraph track to Cape York, Australia’s northernmost point.

“These tyres will be put through the wringer,” said Pat.

“It won’t be just me. I’ll be taking a couple of other Amaroks for my film and magazine crews, and they will also be fitted with Open Country A/TII rubber.

“Get ready to see a lot more of Toyo Tires this year as we put them to the test in front of and behind our cameras as we explore the furthest reaches of Australia.”

Toyo Tires marketing manager Jose Angeles said Pat’s fitment of the tyres is an opportunity for Toyo to prove the Open Country range to a nation of 4WD enthusiasts.

“Pat Callinan is respected by four-wheel drivers because he is out there pushing the barriers, making touring and off-roading to the most remote and beautiful parts of Australia accessible for everybody,” Mr Angeles said.

“His word carries weight because his adventures challenge the product claims of all the brands he is involved with. The Open Country range has been proven many times over.

“We look forward to impressing Pat and his crew with our cutting-edge technology and construction that gives a superior drive, whether there is a road or not.”
